A TRIBUTE TO SHIRLEY VERRETT AND TO HEAVEN

 

Let's put a little light in these matters,for those not very familiar with Opera,and Human Voice techics.

Shirley Verrett,American born singer,has indeed been,one of greatest singers of all times ,and as,for example ,MJaria Callas,Montserrat Caballé,Grace Bumbry,Regina Resnik and others,.The last two are fortunatamente  encore alive,who had an enormous Tessitura ( Tessitura means,in Human Voice,its extension,from the higher to the lower note reached by singers or even some actors).

Callas and Caballé always kept their register as Soprano,though  Maria in her last period,sang roles of Mezzo Soprano.as Carmen by Bizet,Cavalleria Rusticana by Mascagni,and the second aria of Eboli,from Verdi's Don Carlo "O Don Fatale",and the final scene of Rossini's La Cenerentola, ( em Português, "A Gata Borralheira"  )  "Nacqui all´affanno e al pianto".

But continuing about Shirley Verrett who began as Mezzo Soprano,as well as Grace Bumbry,and then developed their voices to Soprano's roles.There is a marvellous Concert given by both in the Royal Opera House of Convent Garden in London:
